LUIS RENTERIA
Luis Renteria (Guadalajara, Mexico, 1991) is a multidisciplinary artist with a background in visual arts and cinematography. He lives and works between Barcelona and Guadalajara. He studied Textile Art at Escola Massana and holds a Master’s degree in Research and Artistic Production from the University of Barcelona.
His work combines traditional techniques and references to popular art to explore socially relevant themes through fiction and fantasy. His practice reflects on the connections between materials, social narratives, and cultural traditions, creating a dialogue between past and present.
He has received notable grants and fellowships, including PECDA Jalisco (2021, 2025), FONCA Young Creators (2022), and FOCINE (2022–2025). Additionally, he has participated in prestigious artist residencies such as Hørvævsmuseet (2023) in Denmark, Fabra i Coats (2024) in Barcelona, AIR Green (2025) in Norway, and CASA Centro de Artes de San Agustín (2026) in Oaxaca, Mexico.
