kmilo morales
Kmilo Morales is a visual artist whose work includes land art, painting, and installations (Camilo Ernesto Morales Vargas, Holguín, Cuba, 1990). After graduating from the Academia Profesional de Artes Plásticas de Las Tunas, Cuba, in 2009, he has been residing and working in Madrid since 2018.
Through the use of materials, gesture, light, and space to create an experience rather than a depiction, his work explores painting as a physical and perceptual act. His work has progressed from large-format monochrome painting to installation and land art, all the while continuing to explore how a built environment may help its occupants become conscious of their time, place, and surrounds.
The growth of his research has been greatly aided by his overseas residencies at Fundación Marso (Mexico City, 2024), La Barbeyère (Crest, France, 2024), and Association Noemi – Espace Brownstone (Paris, 2025). In conjunction with artist Kika Goldstein and architect Ismael Pizarro, he created his most recent piece, KURA (2026), a land art project at La Nave Va sculpture park in Cáceres, which was unveiled on the day of the spring equinox.
