Hodei Herreros
Hodei Herreros (Vitoria-Gasteiz / Granada, 1997) is a plastic and visual artist whose production is built around the installation and sculptural language, understanding the plastic as a tool to generate scenes and non-linear narratives from form and image instead of language. She is particularly interested in articulating sculptural shapes through flat surfaces that emerge from the silhouette, the shadow, the contour that delimits things. That which has no apparent volume and yet inhabits space, waiting for the body to appear at some point. A body that appears fragmented, not pretending the unity of a whole but the multiplicity and sympathetic power of its parts.
Cosmetics are also very present in her work, understood as the relationship between ornament and structure, beauty and order, a link that goes back to the etymological origin of the word cosmetic. She uses elements such as arches, moldings, columns, adornments, patterns, furniture or make-up that present a liminal state between structural function and aesthetics, letting the accessory become essential and claiming the importance of ornament as a feminized objectuality.
